general pottery classes

£120 for 4 x 3 hour classes, 15% discount for returning students

All our general pottery classes run continuously dependent on numbers enrolled and you are welcome to join the classes at any time, some of our students have stayed with us since we opened in 2016! To keep it flexible with work, family or holiday commitments the class fee is payable in 4 week blocks in advance. The classes are suitable for complete beginners or those with more experience. We keep the classes small so that we can tailor our teaching to your needs. If you have never used clay before we will start by showing you how to construct forms using a variety of hand building techniques including pinch, coiling, slab and press moulds. You will then be introduced to throwing on the potter's wheel so that you can decide which technique best suits your project.  We look at a wide variety of surface decoration techniques using slips, underglazes, oxides and glazes. All materials are included in the class fee and there is a small additional charge for firing by weight of fired work, currently £4.50 per kg.
