Private bookings for parties, events and training

We are happy to host private parties for adults or children, training for corporate and community organisations, INSET training for schools and taster sessions for small groups or individuals. Please email the studio via the contact form to give us an idea of your requirements and we will call you to discuss in detail.

Charge will be dependant on the event and numbers involved

Karen leads two general classes suitable for all abilities on Monday 10am to 1pm and Tuesday evening from 6 to 9pm. You will learn how to construct forms using a variety of hand building techniques including slab building, coiling and press moulds. The basics of throwing on the potter's wheel will also be introduced. Surface decoration techniques using slips, underglazes, oxides and glazes will also be covered so that you are introduced to the different stages of ceramic processes. All materials are included in the class fee; there is a small additional charge for firing by weight of fired work. These classes run continuously dependent on numbers enrolled and you are welcome to join the classes at any time, the class fee is payable in 4 week blocks in advance.

£120 for 4 x 3 hour classes, 15% discount for returning students

Project development with Karen Peters

A weekly three hour workshop for anyone with some experience of working with clay who would like to develop their projects independently. A basic range of clays and glazes are provided, advice is given depending on outcome desired. Should you require specialist clays eg. porcelain we can advise and/or purchase on your behalf. Whether a one off piece or an on-going functional or sculptural exploration, one to one support is assured. There is a small additional charge for finished and fired work calculated by weight of fired work (for rates please see the open access & firing tab under facilities).

£30 per 3 hour session, 15% discount if 4 or more sessions booked in advance

Wednesday evenings 6pm - 9pm

Throwing on the wheel with Lindsay Talmud

Classes suitable for all abilities that concentrate on introducing and developing the fundamental techniques of throwing on the wheel. Lindsay Talmud will guide you from the first principles and show you how to rigorously assess and improve your throwing ability using a range of clay bodies. This class will be for a maximum of 5 students. There is a small additional charge for finished and fired work calculated by weight at the end of the course (for rates please see the open access & firing tab under facilities). These classes run continuously dependent on numbers enrolled and you are welcome to join the class at any time, the class fee is payable in 4 week blocks in advance.

Family workshops with Claire Shoosmith

Family workshops where you can work alongside your children exploring loads of different ways of working with clay and developing ideas for creative projects. Claire positively encourages experimentation and play. The workshop is limited to a maximum of 10 places. There is a small additional charge for finished and fired work calculated by weight at the end of the workshop.
