At my studio in East Sussex, I make pots on the wheel - both tableware and sculptural
pieces. The form and function of the moon jar from the 17th and 18th century Korea is a
constant inspiration for me. I am currently investigating the potential of smoke firing,
traditional naked raku and natural glazes.
I studied Ceramics and Sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art. I completed a years
apprenticeship at North Street Potters in London where I was trained as a production
potter. I continued to work there and teach at Clapham Pottery for 5 years.
I teach throwing, handbuilding and specialise in paper clay workshops and courses in
various potteries and art schools in the UK, including Heatherley School of Fine Art,
Clapham Pottery and West Dean College of Arts.
