About this class

Reserve your place for this block of four x three hour classes with a deposit of £40, the balance of £80 can be paid by card or cash at your first class. As and when a place become available on this class we will make the button to reserve your place and pay the deposit live. The general ceramics classes are suitable for all levels of ability. We keep the classes small so that we can tailor our teaching to your needs. The classes are bookable in 4 week blocks and many of our students have stayed with us for several years! Bring your sketches, photographs or any research materials you wish to use as a starting point. We will guide and support your making with both hand-building and throwing, introducing you to a wide range of techniques to realise your ideas. If you have never used clay before we will start by showing you how to construct forms using a variety of hand building techniques including pinch, coiling, slab and press moulds. You will then be introduced to throwing on the potter's wheel so that you can decide which technique best suits your project.  We look at a wide variety of surface decoration techniques using slips, underglazes, oxides and glazes. All materials are included in the class fee and there is a small additional charge for firing by weight of finished work. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes and please bring a full-length apron - working with clay can be a messy business!

Cancellation Policy

We are not able to offer refunds unless the class, workshop or taster session you have booked is cancelled 10 or more days before the session. If you need to cancel a session, please get in touch, we might be able to book you on an alternative date and we are happy to offer you a refund if we can fill your space with another student.
