These birds were sculpted from heavily grogged stoneware clay. Hand pinched heads have been joined to extruded and manipulated bodies before being decorated with oxides and glazed with a satin dolomite glaze. Each bird has two small circular holes in the base which can be used to insert two 6mm diameter metal rods or canes allowing the bird to stand in your garden. The holes could also be used for small twigs to act as legs.
The sale of ceramics made by the Hive group of neurodiverse artists will support the activities of Eastbourne Mencap.
