Intermediate class mixed techniques

About this class

Our classes are available to book by individual terms, made up of six, three-hour classes. The intermediate classes are suitable for anyone who has completed at least one block of our beginner's classes or has some experience hand-building and/or throwing. You will be fully supported by our tutors to bring your ideas to life, develop your skills and explore new, exciting techniques. All our intermediate classes have a wonderful mix of students, some have been coming for years and others for just a few months, creating a lovely community of shared learning. We have a fantastic range of tools and equipment for you to use, including a Cowley slab roller and two Roderfeld extruders, with plenty of space to hand-build on our huge workbenches. If you want to focus on throwing, we have four wheels in the main teaching studio, eight wheels in the dedicated throwing studio and for the really adventurous - a magnificent Leach design kick wheel! We fire to earthenware and stoneware and have a beautiful range of studio made glazes for each temperature. We work with four main clay bodies - buff, white, terracotta and flecked and have a good choice of slip and underglaze colours plus oxides for surface decoration. All materials are included in the class fee but there is a small charge per kilo of finished work for firing. All the studios are fully accessible with level access.
