With a background in sculpture and photography, I use clay in an experimental way. I'm not a pure ceramicist, for me clay is simply another material that might feel right when I'm in the process of making work.
I enjoy it's malleability and potential fragility. I'm fascinated by the alchemy of combining raw ingredients and how our history on earth is so intrinsically linked to how we have used this 'earth' both for functional necessity and economic or cultural power.
I'm a co-founder and director of the studio. My main focus is leading the community projects, family classes and arts workshops. As well as my own art practice, I teach neurodiverse young people art & design in a specialist SEN school.
