Stoneware slab built bird with black slip and white glaze

The artists used loads of different tools to create rich textures on small slabs of clay, the slabs were then joined together to create a flock of birds before being painted with black slip. After their first bisque firing the artists applied white zircon glaze to enrich the surface before adding a final layer of clear transparent glaze, the pieces were then fired to stoneware which means that the pieces are suitable for hanging inside or outside.

This bird can be hung on a wall with the attached fixing indoors but outside you would need to use your own fixing.

The sale of ceramics made by the Hive group of neurodiverse artists will support the activities of Eastbourne Mencap.
