Join Elaine Bolt for this two-day workshop where we focus on throwing with porcelain. Porcelain can be a tricky clay to throw with but the rewards are huge when you learn its specific requirements and foibles! Once mastered you can create beautiful, lightweight vessels that work equally well left unglazed to reveal the smooth lustrous surface of the pure white body or glazed, responding so well to the glaze colour. Workshop day one: is all about throwing. Coaxing and pushing the porcelain to create a number of vessels of varying sizes and shapes. Workshop day two: you will learn how to trim and refine your work. There will also be the opportunity to make small additions from the porcelain, either functional or sculptural. Elaine's work is guided by a sense of narrative, and steeped in the context of the countryside around her studio. Her work includes sculptural work, hand-built wall pieces and thrown vessels, made in porcelain and stoneware clay. Elaine works from her home studio on Ditchling Common and has exhibited her work in several high profile events including Collect and Ceramic Art London. Her work is represented by Flow Gallery, London and Velarde Gallery in Devon. All materials and refreshments are included in the workshop fee Fired work will be charged at £10 per kg
