It has been brilliant to welcome visiting artists to the studio to share their practice with our students and members this year. Last weekend we were delighted to have Tanya Gomez join us for a two day workshop. The students rose to the challenge of working big, creating amazing vessels on the wheel. Each piece is composed of two thrown sections joined with clay slurry and then refined and shaped on the wheel. Huge thanks to Tanya for her inspiring talk and wonderful teaching.
What a fantastic experience for the students, rising to the challenge of working big and creating those amazing two-part vessels! The technique of joining sections with clay slurry and then refining on the wheel sounds like a truly advanced skill to master. It’s inspiring to see such hands-on art develop, much like the focus on detailed craft in sz games. I'm curious if any of the finished pieces will be showcased publicly! 😊
